We frequently get asked a question of the sort "Do the UltraWare products work with any printers other than the Heidelberg/Kodak 9110 (iR110) family?"
Of course! The Alto products work with any printer that has a Windows driver; most if not all of our customers have a mix of printers and it has always been our goal to provide a workflow that is as printer-independent as possible. There are, in fact, three print mechanisms built into both Arranger and UltraPrint:
A. Conventional Windows driver-based printing – just click on File…Print and select the driver for any printer you have. This gives you the same set of printing capabilities that any Windows application such as MS Word would have for printing to your available printers. Combined with the powerful overlay and layout capabilities of Arranger and UltraPrint, this provides a common workflow approach to all of your printers.
B. Alto’s Custom Print Common (CPC) printing control – This printing interface is built into both Arranger and UltraPrint. It provides another level of sophistication to the conventional Windows driver method above. The CPC interface offers a simple method of selecting default media, default plex-mode and finishing options for the entire job, as well as for page-by-page exceptions to the defaults. CPC operates as a complementary tool to the Windows driver resulting in overall enhanced control of the print process to each of your printers.
C. Alto’s developing family of printer-specific Custom Print options - In addition to the above methods which function with any printer, there are several printer families for which Alto has developed Custom Print modules which do not operate in conjunction with the Windows driver. For these specific printers, the integrated print module provides a rich set of device, document and page-level controls for handling the most demanding production printing tasks. The current products supported with Custom Print modules are:
a. the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110/ Canon iR110 family (including the newer high-speed e125 and e150 variants),
b. the Ricoh Aficio MP Series, and the Pro EX Series (90X/110X/135X) multi-function copier/printers using the integrated Ricoh controller (no external RIP is required; but the PS option is necessary).
c. Konica-Minolta 1050/1051 and 1200
d. Ricoh C900
e. Oce 6000 family
f. Canon iPR1135/1125/1100
Please note that none of these printing methods requires any extra-cost modules or licenses to work with your available printers. Unlike some of our competitors, our products are licensed per PC, and we do not care how many or which printers you use them with.
