(This post is in response to the frequent questions we get about how Alto Imaging products can address the needs of a current Xerox user considering alternatives to Xerox. It is unabashedly "sales-oriented"!)
Whether you're a Xerox user looking for a competitive alternative, or a reseller working with a Xerox replacement opportunity, Alto Imaging UltraWare products offer a robust and affordable solution. We all know that Xerox has a major market position in mid-range and high-end production printing operations. In many of these situations the end-user customer would like to be able to consider non-Xerox alternatives. The reasons for wanting to change are numerous but include:
- Cost to maintain and operate Xerox equipment is too high.
- A lease on existing Xerox system is expiring.
- Upgrades and software maintenance on Digipath/Freeflow cost too much.
- Would prefer working with another vendor.
- Need to scale capacity up or down in response to changing customer base.
- Want to add new capabilities such as web-submission or remote management which require looking at non-Xerox offerings.
- Want to keep some or all of existing Xerox printers but add new non-Xerox equipment as well.
Whatever the reasons for needing or wanting to change, the real issue is what are the options? Alto Imaging has provided hundreds of former Xerox customers with open-architecture solutions for document make-ready and print production. Two of our core products, Arranger and UltraPrint, match or exceed the capabilities of a typical Xerox Digipath/Freeflow solution. The diagram below indicates the key functionalities of these two products:
All of the features on the left side in the red area are unique to Arranger; and all of the capabilities on the right side in the green area are unique to UltraPrint. The center yellow area displays common features shared by the two applications. These products are installed in several thousand print shops around the world, and they have evolved in the past 15 years based on satisfying these customers' needs.
Arranger has a rich set of document building and editing features, all designed to make common and repetitive tasks simple and quick. You can be working with Arranger after just a few minutes of training and use; and you can be fully productive with just a few days of exploring its many capabilities.
UltraPrint's job building and print management functions help you handle the production of complex, multi-section documents, and a multi-printer workflow. If you have a library of Xerox RDOs, UltraPrint's RDO import function allows you to turn them into a non-proprietary TIFF or PDF format for immediate printing or reuse in future jobs.
Both products share a Custom Print capability which allows you to select the many layout, assembly and finishing options of most mid-range and high-end production printing equipment. It gives you complete control over job-level setting as well as easy-to-use individual page and subset exception settings. By the way, there is no additional per-printer licensing costs as charged by some of our competitors.
And here's the good part… these applications are very affordable. For comparison to Xerox prices, our suggested retail prices (US$) are show below:
- Arranger Server License (with full scanning support) $ 5,000.00
- UltraPrint Server License (with PS, PDF, PCL RIPs) $ 7,500.00
- Annual Software Maintenance for Arranger $ 923.00
- Annual Software Maintenance for UltraPrint $ 1,384.00
We are currently offering a special package discount when Arranger and UltraPrint are purchased together. In that case, there is a $2,500 MSRP discount, making the combined price $10,000 for both licenses.
